NETSCAPE NAVIGATOR FOR OS 9
Q: I currently have Netscape 4.77 for my iMac with OS 9.2.1. I would like to update to a more recent version of the browser, but I only can find downloads for OS X. Some websites will not load properly with my old browser. Please help me without telling me I have to upgrade to OS X! -- Duane Schunk

A: Okay, the first thing you'll want to do is upgrade to OS X. No, no, no!! I'm pulling your leg! Netscape Navigator is still available for OS 9, but it's been inexplicably hidden from the public. Here's a direct link to the download for Netscape Navigator 7.0.2 for OS 9:

With the start of a new year, we're beginning to see a rash of dire predictions and virus hysteria emails hitting our mailboxes. Thus, I wish to remind you that

1. Most of the time, such forwarded messages are bogus.
2. You have less to fear with your Mac that a virus will affect you because most real viruses do not attack the Mac.
3. You should still have an anti-virus program like Norton Antivirus installed, running, and updated on a regular basis.
4. Please check one or more of the reliable hoax/urban legend web sites BEFORE forwarding on such messages. Such sites include the following, which you should bookmark in a folder entitled something like HOAX or URBAN LEGEND.
